The African Penguin & Seabird Sanctuary
Opened in 2015, the APSS is a custom-designed marine bird rehabilitation center. We provide temporary care to diseased, displaced, injured, oiled and abandoned marine birds with a special focus on the endangered African penguin.
Visit the APSS in Gansbaai.
We are open daily from 09:00 – 16:00. Daily feeding at 15:00.
Enjoy a cup of coffee and some cake, browse the Penguin Gift shop and watch the antics of the African penguins undergoing rehabilitation.
Dine under a Whale skeleton
The Great White House is equipped with a fantastic restaurant, bar, coffee shop, gift shop and adjacent chalets for accommodation.
Pearly Beach Horse Trails

Fat Bike Tours
The Sand Dunes Trail with Fat Bike Tours is the ultimate ride from near Grootbos nature reserve down the mountain to the top of the Sand Dunes. The trail to the dunes is special, running on a narrow sandy horse trail through the Fynbos.
